DUSTIN POIRIER WINS BY TKO DUE TO INJURY:

The Main event was anticlimactic as Conor McGregor broke his ankle w/ 10 seconds left in the first round. The Doctor called the bout in between rounds as Conor was unable to Continue. He started the contest with leg kicks that were beginning to take a toll however Dustin was able to push him against the cage midway through the first round. After a failed Guillotine attempt by McGregor Dustin would spend 2 minutes ground and pounding the former 2 weight champion in route to what would have been a victorious round. After the fight there was many harsh words spoken by both men but mostly from Conor has he sat on the canvas w/ his back against the cage tasting defeat for the 2nd time in a row which has never happened before in his career:

Mcgregor Poirier 1.jpg

UFC 178
SEPTEMBER 27TH 2014
MCGREGOR BY TKO RD. 1

In 2014 Conor McGregor was in the midst of his historic rise in the featherweight division. He was looking for that signature win and he was given that chance against another rising star in Dustin Poirier who was also on a 3 fight win streak. Conor Steam rolled him w/ his pre fight trash talk and then in the actual bout. Conor was able to finish Dustin less than 2 minutes into the very first round to continue his rise and eventually become Featherweight & Lightweight Champion. Conor led the series 1-0

Mcgregor Poirier 2.jpg

UFC 257
SATURDAY JANUARY 25TH 2021
POIRIER BY TKO IN RD. 2

Both men have held gold since the first fight. Conor holding the Featherweight and Lightweight while Dustin Defeated Max Hollloway to win the interim Lightweight belt. Neither man could topple Khabib Nurmagomedov as they both succumbed to him by Rear Naked choke. The Rematch was set up by the two over twitter and the pre fight activities were all friendly w/ the two as they embraced and came off as best friends. Something that people are not used to at all in a McGregor fight. Dustin used Leg Kicks and a relentless attack to Knock Conor out in the Second round. It marked the first time Conor had ever been defeated in that fashion. The Score now sets at 1-1
