at UFC 217 TJ Dillashaw defeated Cody Garbrandt to become 2 time Bantamweight Champion At MSG

WRAP UP:
This season was a bit different in that it had all contestants who had previously been on the show but failed to win and had struggles in and out of the octagon since their first appearance. Joe Stevenson all the way from season 2 was featured as was 3 guys from season 22. Jessie Taylor who made the finals in season 7 but famously blew it by getting drunk and ending up on security camera’s breaking car windows got the ultimate redemption by winning this season. The bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and number one contender TJ Dillashaw were at each others throats the entire season, in fact Cody would try to snatch TJ up by his neck in one heated moment. Ultimately TJ would win the war by defeating Cody for the belt at UFC 217 and then beating him again to retain the title a year or so later. In both bouts he knocked Cody out. The finale also saw the Debut in the UFC by Justin Gaethje who went by the name “The Highlight” and he lived up to it with a instant classic against always game Michael Johnson. The fight was a back and forth war that eventually saw Johnson crumble to an onslaught in round 2.
