Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier first met in 2015 during Conor’s historic rise in the featherweight division. That contest ended in the first when Conor KO’s dustin. The two would negotiate a rematch on Twitter originally w/out the UFC. Eventually The UFC made the bout for this event. The story was calf kicks as Dustin battered Conor’s legs en route to a TKO victory in the second. It marks the first time McGregor has ever been finished in that fashion having only suffering submission defeats previously. The lead up was unusually respectful for a McGregor bout. The two are scheduled to finish the trilogy in July.
On the undercard Former Bellator Champion Michael Chandler debuted in emphatic fashion by knocking out Dan Hooker in less than 3 minutes. Elsewhere Joanne Calderwood out pointed heated rival Jessica Eye earning a title eliminator fight in the future. The opening of the PPV saw hot prospect Amanda Nunes have her momentum halted by Marina Rodriquez when she was TKO’d in early in the 2nd round.
