ANTHONY “RUMBLE” JOHNSON: 3/6/84 - 11/13/22

I first saw Anthony Johnson when he Knocked out Tom Speer in 2008 at a UFC Fight night. Johnson was one of the absolute most exciting KO artists in the modern era in both UFC and Bellator. He ended his career in Bellator as part of the heavyweight tournament. His last bout was a KO victory over Jose Augusto Azevedo. He was scheduled to face the champion however he was forced to withdraw due to his illness and sadly would never step into the octogon again.
He was a two time Title contender as he fought for the Light Heavyweight Title of the UFC twice and lost both occasions by Submission to Daniel Cormier. He finished his UFC career w/ a 13-5 record w/ wins over Glover Teixeira, Ryan Bader, Phil Davis, Alexander Gustuffson, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Jimi Manuwa and Dan Hardy. Most of those wins come by Stoppage. He KOed Teixeira in 13 seconds.
He also wracked up wins in the WSOL against Former UFC Heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski and Mike Kyle sporting a 3-0 Record in the WSOL.
He has 8 post fight bonus’s in the UFC including 5 Performance bonus’s. He main evented 2 UFC PPV’s, the aforementioned bouts against Cormier.

Johnson might not have achieved a championship belt in the cage but the man was a champion inside and out. Upon his death the MMA community gushed w/ admiration for a man who always put everyone else first and considered one of the most caring and compassionate men in the sport. Rumble will be missed by everyone.
